    S.E.E. 2017: STEM
A networking event for teachers and STEM community members on Tuesday, October 17 from 5-7 pm at the JACC

We would like to invite teachers and professionals involved with STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) to collaborate over a fun evening.

    Price: free

More Information (Taku 105 - KTKU-FM is not responsible for external websites)

The two-hour event is intended for idea sharing, networking, and brainstorming ways to connect STEM professionals with nearby classrooms, in order to excite and engage students by bringing STEM to life.

The gathering will unite Alaska Native culture-bearers, people who use STEM in their daily work, and those who apply STEM less formally, with teachers. This could include carpenters, scientists, Tlingit elders, health care workers, electricians, photographers, architects, engineers, naturalists, science storytellers, and/or people who work outdoors - with boats, fish, trees, and animals.  In other words, STEM fields in a broad sense!

Food, drinks, and door prizes will be provided through contributions from NOAA, Wings Airways, Alaska Zipline Adventures, McGivneys, and Alaska Glacial Seafoods.

SouthEast Exchange is a new collaboration started by scientists and school teachers, in conjunction with the Juneau STEM Coalition and JEDC. Its broad mission is to share ideas, experience, and knowledge within our community and, particularly, to facilitate connections among professionals and teachers to enrich education for Juneau students.

We are kicking off our collaboration this fall with an event focused on STEM fields, but hope to expand in future years to events that connect teachers with art, history, and writing professionals.
