Author Talk with Mary Ehrlander

Mary Ehrlander, Director of Arctic and Northern Studies and professor of history at UAF, presents her recent book, Walter Harper: Alaska Native Son, which profiles Harper, the Irish-Athabascan man who was the first to summit Denali, was riverboat pilot and winter trail guide for Archdeacon Hudson Stuck, and, with his new wife Frances, was one of the victims of the Princess Sophia shipwreck. This program is cosponsored by the Juneau-Douglas City Museum and Juneau Public Libraries as part of The Great American Read. Programming for The Great American Read is offered as part of a grant from the American Library Association and PBS.
