Action Line: Rep. Cathy Munoz discusses future of AMHS

According to Munoz, ""We are looking at possibly a new governance structure for the Marine Highway, such as the possibility of an empowered board."

Changes to the Alaska Marine Highway System will be explored at a gathering coming up Saturday, August 20th.

Juneau Representative Cathy Munoz talked about the gathering while a guest on Action Line recently.

"We are looking at possibly a new governance structure for the Marine Highway, such as the possibility of an empowered board. The governor is working very closely with the Southeast Conference and has just announced a symposium in Anchorage on August 20th to discuss this new governance model and deal with where we go forward with the governance and operation of the Marine Highway. Then, we'll really get into the nuts and bolts of scheduling, maintenance, questions, operation, and so forth."

Munoz explained why it will be held in Anchorage.
