Airplanes have new fan

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Pilots had a new obstacle, a seal, on the runway at an Alaska airport Tuesday.

The seal weighed an estimated 450 pounds and had to be removed from the Utqiagvik Airport runway without incident.  A photo of the bearded sea relaxing on the runway has been a popular photo on Facebook.  The Alaska Department of Transportation warned pilots with a playful, 'beware of low sealings' at the airport and there were no reported difficulties with planes attempting to land.  North Slope Animal Control took charge of the removal.
