KETCHIKAN, Alaska (AP) — Travelers leaving from the Ketchikan International Airport are being told to expect long delays due to a security equipment breakdown.

The Ketchikan Daily News reports (http://bit.ly/22baOdx ) that the Transportation Security Administration on Friday requested travelers arrive at the airport at least three hours before their flights due to the technical issue.

The TSA alert did not specify what is causing the delays, but airport manager Mike Carney says the x-ray scanner broke Thursday afternoon, forcing security personnel to check each passenger's bags by hand.

Carney says repairs are expected to be completed Tuesday, but he has asked the TSA to expedite the process.
