Alaska 3rd most expensive state for Memorial Day gas prices

    As we head into Memorial Day weekend, gas prices are at the highest point of the year, averaging $2.31 nationwide this month, while Alaska comes in at third most expensive state for gas prices.

    As we head into Memorial Day weekend, gas prices are at the highest point of the year, averaging $2.31 nationwide this month, while Alaska comes in at third most expensive state for gas prices.

    This month also marked the first time since August that the average price was more than $2 per gallon in every state and Washington, D.C.

    Based on this week’s state averages, drivers in the following states have it best going into the holiday weekend: Mississippi, Texas, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Arkansas, where gas is just under two dollars and a dime per gallon.

    California is most expensive at $2.81 per gallon. Hawaii is second at $2.67 per gallon. Alaska is third at $2.63 per gallon.
    Washington Sate came in 4th most expensive, and Michigan came in 5th.
