JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY, Pete Carran) - Alaska is the third richest station in nation. That's according to "24-7" Wall Street" which used this week's figures from the U. S. Census Bureau.
Alaska's median household income rose to $73,355.
The 49th state trails only Hawaii and Maryland.
Alaska also has the fifth lowest rate of poverty at 10 point 3 percent, but the fifth highest unemployment rate.
Mississippi is once again the country's poorest state.
The median income in the Magnolia state was $40,600 which was unchanged from the yer before.
Mississippi also has the highest poverty rate in the U. S at 22 percent, and eleven percent earn $10,000 or less each year.
