Juneau, Alaska (KINY) The Juneau-based Alaska Committee held its 2017 Annual Meeting in January, and elected directors to help continue the organization’s global efforts designed to help Juneau be a better Capital City.
The Alaska Committee was organized in 1994 to look at ways Juneau organizations and individuals can work together to improve access, enhance facilities and accommodations for all visitors, particularly during the legislative session each year.
As a result of the committee’s activities, Alaska Airlines generously partnered with the City and Borough of Juneau and the Alaska Committee to reduce airfare to Juneau during the legislative session.
The City and Borough of Juneau, through the Alaska Committee, has provided funding for Gavel-to-Gavel Alaska, which enables Alaskans across the state to view live coverage of the Alaska Legislature and key committee hearings.
The Alaska Committee’s 2017 Annual Meeting took place in January. Elected to serve a one-year term was Teresa Young, while Wayne Jensen, Mary Becker, Dru Fenster, Samantha Dye, and Norton Gregory, were elected to serve three year terms.
