Alaska man killed by police

    Seward, Alaska (KINY) Another police involved shooting has been reported, this one in Seward.

    A Chugiak man was shot and killed after some kind of confrontation with Seward Police on Sunday, the Alaska State Troopers said.

    The dispatch from Troopers stated that at approximately 1:47 AM on October 1, the unnamed Seward Officer was involved in a shooting in the Safeway parking lot.  Initial investigation found the police officer had made a traffic stop and contacted Micah McComas, 41.  During the contact, McComas was shot and killed.

    The officer received non-life threatening injuries.  Alaska State Troopers took over the investigation and plan to submit the results of the investigation to the Office of Special Prosecution for review.  Seward Police plan to release the name of the officer after 72 hours, which is in accord with department policy.
