Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) A ceremony is planned today to welcome the new commander in Alaska.
U.S. Army Command Sergeant Major Jeffrey Dillingham will assume command today as the highest ranking non-commissioned officer in the state with a ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.
Dillingham enlisted in 1991 and has worked his way up the ranks. He previously served as Command Sergeant Major for the 1st Army Division West at Fort Hood, Texas. He's served in Iraq and Afghanistan and has received several awards.
His previous assignments include Battalion Command Sergeant Major for 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, Fort Stewart, Georgia; two assignments at 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; 6th Ranger Training Battalion, Eglin Air Force Base, Florida; 4th Brigade, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Polk, Louisiana; and 2nd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia. His overseas assignments include six combat tours in Afghanistan and four tours in Iraq.
