Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska is no longer home to the most expensive quarter pounder with cheese.
Economist Neal Fried of the State Labor Department devoted part of his cost of living article in the July edition of Alaska Economic Trends to that special index.
He was skeptical. He called it odd because he found it hard to believe that the most expensive quarter pounder sold by McDonalds was $5.99 in the Auburn - Opelika area of Alabama.
Juneau and Fairbanks had the highest priced quarter pound in Alaska at $5.29. It's $5.02 in Anchorage.
Fried said the national average is $4.21.
The famous burger hit $5.79 in Waterloo and Cedar Falls, Iowa, and $5.73 in Seattle.
The lowest priced quarter pounder was found in the Dublin - Laurens, Georgia, at $2.99.
