Alaska trip by Zinke under scrutiny

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke has come under fire for not keeping track of his taxpayer funded trips to Alaska, and other states.

.An internal watchdog report said Zinke failed to keep records on the trips that include private charter flights for government business.
One being studied is a trip by private plane to Alaska in May and a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands in March that cost $7,000 total.  Zinke said all of the flights were ethical and for a government purpose.  He also was criticized for taking a $12,750 flight from Las Vegas to his home in Montana after a speech to Western Governors.  The investigation is also looking into whether Zinke's wife took government paid trips without reimbursement.

A spokesperson for Zinke said he has no plans to reimburse the government.
