ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska State Troopers are investigating the shooting death of a woman during a moose hunt.
Troopers say they were notified Thursday that 40-year-old Natalia Ayunerak of Alakanuk was shot and killed Wednesday evening during the hunt about 30 miles of the Yukon River from the village of Russian Mission.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says the investigation is looking at whether the shooting was intentional or accidental.
Troopers are releasing few details of the case.
Troopers say an autopsy will be performed by the state medical examiner's office.
