Alaskan teen qualifies for Olympic Team Trials, misses out on Rio

    19 year old Allie Ostrander from Soldotna was in the top 16 that qualified for Sunday's finals, she came in 8th as the only teenager in the group of 20 and 30 something year old women.

    An Alaskan athlete competed and qualified Thursday at the Olympic Team Trials for Track and Field, placing 8th Sunday just missing out on going to Rio.
    19 year old Allie Ostrander from Soldotna was in the top 16 that qualified for Sunday's finals, she came in 8th as the only teenager in the group of 20 and 30 something year old women.

    The top three earned a trip to the Summer Olympics in Brazil this August.

    Klas Stolpe caught up with her in Eugene, OR. last week the night before the trials. Ostrander was excited and thankful for the chance to compete. She also spoke fondly of her roommate at college in Idaho, former Thunder Mountain athlete Maddie Hall.
