Arrest made in fatal hit and run

Anchorage, Alaska (KINY) Anchorage Police arrested a 22 year old woman for striking and killing a pedestrian last week.

Caitlin Forbes was charged with suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident without assisting the injured, police said.  Other charges are pending in the case and the investigation is ongoing.

Brian Ballot, 49, was struck and killed on Saturday night at the intersection of Muldoon Road and Fifth avenue.  It was the 22nd report of a pedestrian or cyclist being struck in Anchorage this year.

Police used evidence collected at the scene, that included a broken headlight to narrow down the search for the car, a 2003-2205 Dodge Neon.  They received an anonymous tip on Monday that a car that matched the description of the car was parked outside an home in east Anchorage and police later determined the vehicle was owned by the suspect.
