A member of the Juneau Assembly said on Action Line Friday that he thinks the body can pretty much wrap up work on the next two year budget next week.

Loren Jones was asked about the Assembly's budget work, "We're going to try to pretty much make as many of our final decisions as we can. We got a long ways this Wednesday night, we moved forward the hospital budget, we moved forward the airport budget, we moved forward the Eaglecrest budget, and we moved the marine passenger fee projects to the full budget. We still have some outstanding agencies, we have some increments to deal with, and we still have the school district budget to deal with. Then once we have done that there's setting of the mill rate and approving the capital projects. So I think next Wednesday night is going to be a lengthy meeting because I think a lot of us have some questions that we still need to get answered but I think we're going to try to work through it and try to finish up on the 11th as close as we can."

The spending document can be amended after that depending on how legislative actions might impact it, but Jones doesn't forsee a great impact at this point, "The revenue sharing bill has passed. The budget as it stands we have a pretty good idea if it doesn't move, even though they haven't passed it, what the school district funding will be from the state level. We know what our property assessments are, we know that income level, we know the impact on revenue sharing, and we have not put into the budget capital projects that we think they will approve. We think that together through Kim's efforts, Rorie's efforts, and especially Bob Bartholomew at finance, we have a plan and have the revenues that will get us through this year and maybe even next year without significant strains."
