CBJ Committee of the Whole to discuss equal rights ordinance

Ordinance would make discrimination based on race, color, age, religion, sex, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin illegal.

A special meeting of the Assembly Committee of the Whole is scheduled for Tuesday evening to conduct a work session
    on a new ordinance.

City Manager Rorie Watt discussed it while a guest on Action Line Friday.

"There is an ordinance they are going to hear public testimony on that would add a new section to city code on equal rights," explained Watt. "It would make discrimination based on race, color, age, religion, sex, familial status, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, or national origin unlawful. The public is invited to comment and provide testimony."

Deputy Mayor Jesse Kiehl introduced the Equal Rights Ordinance last week.
