CCFR has plan in place to deal with closure of intersection

JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY) - Egan Drive construction now bars inbound traffic from making left hand turns to go to the hospital.

We asked Capital City Fire Rescue Chief Rich Etheridge about what that means for his ambulances.

"We went and evaluated the intersection. Currently, we can get emergency apparatus through if we need to. At some point, it will become impassable and we won't be able to make the turn coming from the Valley. We do have alternate plans with continuing past the hospital and turning around at the end of the retaining walls, or taking Old Glacier Highway. Plans are in place to accommodate for the closure of that intersection."

Outbound traffic is barred from turning on to Channel Drive.
