A celebration of the life of former Juneau Mayor Jamie Parsons is scheduled for this Saturday afternoon.

Parsons passed away last December 26th.

He was mayor from 1991 to 1994.

Parsons was remembered on Action Line Monday by Juneau Representative Cathy Munoz:

"Jamie was a wonderful person, a good friend of mine, and was one of Juneau's great ambassadors. He dedicated much of his career to improving recreational opportunities for our citizens and he worked really hard to strengthen Juneau as the capital city. He went across the state when we faced capital move threats, meeting with chambers, going door to door talking with people, and did a lot to really build positive relationships for our community. So I look forward to this ceremony and I plan to present a legislative citation at the ceremony and just want to say he is greatly missed and that he was a wonderful leader in our community."

The celebration of Jamie Parsons' life is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Centennial Hall.
