City Manager Rorie Watt is proud of the event sponsored by his police department at Marine Park this week,

"I'm really pleased with the way our police department has responded. We had a nice event the other day, gave out about somewhere between 1,500 and 2,000 hotdogs. It was a stand up against violence event and many people came by and I think it reflected positively on the community. Obviously other communities across the country are having a lot harder times and our police department works really hard and continuously to maintain good relations with everybody in the community. I think we have to acknowledge the shortcomings and the tragedies across the county and we have to act in a way locally in our community to make ourselves be a model for other places."

Watt pointed another event planned this Sunday,
    .
"That's out at the University from 2:00PM to 5:00PM and that's a community sponsored event. It's called Racial Justice and Anti-Violence Creative Conversation. That's going to be a little bit different way to look at the problem but I think the good news is we have a whole bunch of people in the community looking at that issue from different perspectives."

City Manager Rorie Watt commented on Action Line Friday.
