Anchorage, AK (KINY) - The Covenant House Alaska in Anchorage is holding an event to help eliminate youth homelessness and human trafficking.
The evening events will start with a candlelight vigil, followed by a reception. After that folks will take a bus tour of some of the places homelessness and trafficking occur in Anchorage. Lastly, people are encouraged to spend the night on the street and will be given a sleeping bag, cardboard box, and a place in the courtyard.
The whole event is designed to really show what some of their neighbors may go through in an effort to raise awareness.
The event will be held in Anchorage on Thursday November 16th at 6pm at the Town Square Park.
Covenant House Alaska will be collecting donations of necessities like cold weather gear, toiletries, and People Mover bus passes. The community at large can also donate to the Covenant House at ak.covenanthouse.org
