Dead black bear found behind Mendenhall Mall

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Juneau are investigating the illegal take of a black bear found behind the Mendenhall Mall.

The report of a dead bear came into Troopers at about 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.  Details of the case were included in a dispatch released late Friday afternoon.

Troopers say their investigation revealed  the bear had been shot and left with nothing salvaged.  It is believed that the bear was likely shot as a result of an on-going trash issue in the area.  The investigation is continuing.
