Derelict Boat Adrift and Sinking in Gastineau Channel

Juneau, AK- (KINY) The US Coast Guard is monitoring a derelict boat that was drifting in the Gastineau Channel Saturday afternoon near the Mendenhall Bar and is in the process of sinking.

Coast Guard Petty Officer Charly Hengen says the boat had been tied up to another boat in the harbor and somehow came untied and began to sink.  She says the Coast Guard has put out a broadcast to warn boaters of the possible obstruction and to watch for it.  There is no pollution associated with the vessel.
