Airport Manager Patty Wahto says she thinks people would be pretty surprised by the data that's come out of this, such as both the number of jobs, indirect and direct, that the airport provides.
The economic impact of Juneau's airport is now being updated.
Airport Manager Patty Wahto said a draft economic plan is part of the update on the Airport Sustainability Plan.
She talked about that on Action Line Tuesday:
The last plan that we had was back in 2000. Things have changed dramatically since then, so we've got a draft plan on our website, Juneau.org/airport, and when you look at the plan, there's two parts under the sustainable master plan. There's the flyer that's a summary of the draft and then there's the more in depth study. I think people would be pretty surprised by the data that's come out of this, both the number of jobs, indirect and direct, that the airport provides. We have about 687 direct jobs and about 395 indirect jobs. We have a labor income of 50 million direct and 13 million indirect dollars."
She added that there's about fifty businesses on site and encourages residents to examine the draft plan.
