Efforts to rescue heart attack victim fail

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) Despite the best efforts of Alaska State Troopers and the US Coast Guard, a California man died from an apparent heart attack.

    A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said they received an emergency notification at 9 pm on September 27 from the International Rescue Coordination Center that they received an in Reach message that stated William Becker, 62, had experienced a heart attack at Sitkoh Lake.  The US Coast Guard in Juneau dispatched a helicopter to the scene and arrived three hours later.  Mr. Becker was transported to Juneau but died enroute.  The Sitka Police Department is conducting the death investigation.  The dispatch went on to state that there were no signs of foul play and that next of kin were notified.
