Juneau, AK (KINY) - An elderly man was medevaced from a ship outside of Ketchikan on Monday.
According to a press release from the Coast Guard, Coast Guard members stationed in Ketchikan responded to the 65-foot pleasure craft Lady Crystal, where the 74-year-old man was determined to need a higher level of care than a flight surgeon. He had fallen and was passing in and out of consciousness. The man was safely taken to Ketchikan where medical personnel took him to the Peace Health Ketchikan Medical Center.
Sector Juneau watchstanders helped direct the launch of the response craft. They were also able to direct the Lady Crystal on a path that would speed up their contact time.
