Father and son rescued from submerged vehicle

Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) A motor vehicle accident resulted in an SUV striking some trees and being partially submerged Wednesday.

Alaska State Troopers said they responded to mile marker 14 on the North Tongass Highway at lunchtime Wednesday.  They found the SUV had left the roadway, traveled down an embankment and came to rest against a group of trees.  The vehicle was partially submerged in water.  Troopers went on to say that the driver, Charles Teal, 38, was unresponsive and trapped in the vehicle.  The North Tongass Fire Department and EMS, Ketchikan Fire Department, and Alaska Wildlife Troopers all worked to remove the injured safely.  Both were transported to Ketchikan General Hospital for treatment.  The investigation is ongoing.  Troopers asked that anyone with information about the crash contact them at (907) 225-5118.
