Feds prosecute alleged drug smuggler

Ketchikan, Alaska (KINY) Alfonso Francisco Sandoval pled guilty to felony charges in US District Court in Juneau.

Court records show Sandoval, 31, pled guilty to methamphetamine conspiracy.  He and Arthur Castillo, 31, were arrested in October, 2017 after a search warrant was executed at two Ketchikan residences.  Authorities said they seized amounts of methamphetamine, heroin, guns, marijuana and suspected drug cash.

The two men allegedly were involved in a drug network that smuggled drugs from Fresno, California to Alaska.  Mr. Castillo pled guilty to related charges at an earlier court appearance and will be sentenced in September.

Mr. Sandoval will appear in court for a sentence hearing in October.
