Filing period for CBJ election open as of Friday morning

    Two incumbents and a newcomer have filed as of Friday evening.

    The filing period for the City and Borough of Juneau's October 4 election opened this morning.

    Incumbent Mary Becker filed for re-election to her Assembly District 1 shortly after the filing period started at 8 a.m.

    Incumbent Kate Troll has filed to seek re-election to her areawide seat.

    Jamie Bursell, who was appointed to fill the seat vacated by Karen Crane when she opted to run for mayor during the special election in March, has decided not to seek election to the seat this Fall.

    Former Assistant Fire Chief Beth Weldon has filed for the District 2 seat.

    Two school board seats will be up for election.  Incumbents Barbara Thurston and Lisa Worl have told us they will not seek re-election.
