Firemen collect for muscular dystrophy

Juneau (KINY) It was a good year for Capital City Firefighters as the held the 'Fill The Boot' Campaign this past weekend.

The annual campaign assists the Muscular Dystrophy foundation and helps send kids to summer camp.

Local firemen Andrew Bishop organized the event this year and praised the generosity of Juneau residents, who raised $11,000 Saturday and Sunday.

"It went great.  It went a lot better than we expected due to the weather.  We had a great turnout, had a lot of volunteers, and we definitely exceeded our goals of $10,000," he added.

The Firemen have been helping to send kids to summer camps for over 50 years

Mr Bishop says "For the size of our community, Juneau is very generous.  Everyone is willing to give and donate.  Juneau is a good community to be a part of."
