Fisher to head state Revenue Department

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Governor Bill Walker has switched his Administration Department commissioner to Revenue.

Sheldon Fisher moves to Revenue immediately, according to a press release issued by the Governor's Office.

Deputy Commissioner Leslie Ridle will serve as Interim Administration Commissioner until the governor names a new appointment.

Fisher replaces Randy Hoffbeck, who retired August 17.

The Governor is quoted in the release as saying that Fisher is a natural fit for the state's top revenue position.

As Administration commissioner, Walker says Fisher  shepherded a number of cost-reduction projects, including the initiative to streamline services. Coupled with the 20 years of management experience in the private sector,  the Governor says Fisher  is well-equipped to lead the Revenue Department.
