Float plane located

    Sitka, Alaska (KINY) Searchers have located the missing float plane but are continuing to search for two passengers.

    The USCG Command Center would only report that the plane had been located.  They said the search was ongoing.  The float plane had taken off Saturday night at 7 pm from the Sitka float plane docks for a short tour of Katlian Bay and Olga Strait to watch mountain goats.

    The seaplane was supposed to fly for only 20 minutes.

    Several agencies were involved in the search.  The US Coast Guard provided a helicopter from Air Station Sitka and a fast response cutter from Juneau.  The Alaska Air National Guard and Alaska State Troopers were also involved in the search.

    ***update from Coast Guard.  One person was found deceased in the float plane.  The plane crashed near the Katlian River as it enters Katlian Bay.  It was discovered at 10 pm Sunday.  A search continues for the second person on the plane.
