Juneau, Alaska (KINY) The Fest is part of National Public Lands Day September 22.
The U.S. Forest Service said the family event will include arts and crafts for kids of all ages, related to the glacier, flora, and fauna of the Tongass National Forest.
This year participants will be introduced to the new Tongass Family Field Guide. It can be used during hikes of the area, and helps to discover common plants and fields in the Tongass National Forest.
Other agencies involved include Discovery Southeast. The visitor center bookstore operator will have activities for families. The Raptor Center will present Blueberry, a live raven from 12-1 pm. Smokey Bear will also be on hand to spread his message of fire safety from 11:15 to 11:45 am and from 1:15 to 1:45 pm.
