Governor to sign Land Exchange Bill, sponsored by Rep. Munoz

Munoz say it first came to her attention with a long standing potential land exchange between Echo Ranch and the state of Alaska to gain legal access to the state park out at Point Bridgett.

Governor Walker is scheduled to sign a bill Wednesday that was sponsored by Juneau Representative Cathy Munoz.

HB 274 is the Land Exchange Bill.

Munoz talked about the legislation while a guest on Action Line Monday.

"This first came to my attention with a long standing potential land exchange between Echo Ranch and the state of Alaska to gain legal access to the state park out at Point Bridgett. The trail that leads out to the park is on private land and for many years we've been trying to make an equal value exchange with Echo Ranch to try to get legal access to the park. That's been very difficult, because the statutes are so cumbersome. We've only in the last 25 years had one successful land exchange under this provision of the statute and that was for the Fall Creek Hydro Project in Gustavus. So, it's a good bill and I'm glad the governor supports the legislation."
