Hikers rescued

Klawock, Alaska (KINY) Two seasonal workers for the US Forest Service got lost in the woods.

Alaska State Troopers said Brooke Kubby and Charles Cowley had been hiking in the woods before they became stranded near Black Bear Lake.  The pair apparently took a wrong turn on the trip and were trapped due to poor weather conditions.

Troopers said US Forest Service staff and Klawock Search and Rescue put together two teams to search the mountains and located the hikers safe and sound.  Both were taken to a nearby Forest Service cabin and a plane was called in to pick them up this morning.  Neither hiker had serious injury but both suffered from exposure.
