Infant left with brain damage

Fairbanks, Alaska (KINY) An Alaska man is accused of severely injuring his own son during an apparent violent rage.

Ronald McGriff, 22, of Fort Wainwright, was held without bail on charges of felony assault for the incident in August.  Charging documents allege McGriff severely assaulted the 8-month old child by kicking him, throwing him against a wall, and shaking the baby for over 10 seconds. McGriff allegedly told detectives that the baby had fallen off a couch on August 1st.  He later changed his story and reportedly confessed to the assault.

McGriff is being held without bond.  The father apparently took the child to the hospital on August 8 and the hospital alerted police.
