Juneau-Douglas High School has been voted into the top 25 in the nation for the USA Today High School Sports Best Athletic Program contest.

The Crimson Bears are in the final round against schools from all over the country. They're one of two West Coast schools left standing, but they need your votes.

The final round of voting begins Wednesday, May 25th. There is money and fame - $2500 to the athletic department and a banner for the school - at stake!

News of the North spoke with JDHS Athletic Director Chad Bentz.

"We're excited about the opportunity," stated Bentz. "We take pride here at JDHS in running quality programs for the students here, and we're very fortunate and thankful to be in this competition. We just take pride here, and we try to be classy; whatever we're competing in, we try to be classy winners and classy losers when we don't win. Again, we're just thrilled to be a part of it."
