Juneau, AK-(KINY) The Juneau Police Department Lobby was open today for people to drug off unwanted drugs to be disposed of courtesy of the DEA.
Rob Kindred dropped by to take advantage of the service. It's not surprise, since he is with Capital City Fire and Rescue, that safety is his motive. Kindred says there is no point in keeping those items around, especially if you have children. In addition, Kindred likes that this type of drug disposal is more environmentally sound than sending drugs to the landfill or flushing them down the toilet.
While Kindred agreed to talk to News of the North, Lt. Krag Campbell, who was staffing the event, says he doesn't keep track of what is dropped off or by whom. JPD has a small drug drop off box in the lobby that can be used whenever the lobby is open. Lt. Campbell says that service will continue to be available.
