JPD offering free car seat checks Thursday July 14th at Mendenhall Mall

According to JPD's Sarah Dolan, "It takes about ten minutes, and people can get their seats checked to make sure they have the right kid in the right seat."

Juneau Police report that three out of every four car seats checked are not being used correctly.

If you've ever wondered if your child is big enough to move out of a booster seat, or if he's big enough to move from a harness to a booster, then come to the Juneau Police Department's car seat check-up event Thursday, July 14th, from 3-6pm at Chad Erikson State Farm in the Mendenhall Mall parking lot!

News of the North spoke with JPD Community Service Officer Sarah Dolan.

"We will have five car seat safety technicians for a free car seat inspection," stated Dolan. "It takes about ten minutes, and people can get their seats checked to make sure they have the right kid in the right seat, that everyone is fastened in appropriately, and that the seats are installed correctly."

The car seat inspection is free, and there will be a limited supply of car seats available at a discounted rate for those who qualify.
