JPD swiftly apprehends suspect in downtown restaurant burglary

    44-year-old Michael Gallo of Juneau was arrested Monday after investigation identified him as the perpetrator of a Sunday burglary at Tracy's Crab Shack.

    Juneau police responded to a report of a burglary Monday morning, and they brought a suspect into custody just over an hour later.

    According to a press release, the Juneau Police Department received a report on August 1st at approximately 9:21 a.m. that Tracy’s Crab Shack on S Franklin Street had been burglarized sometime during the night. The investigation revealed that access had been gained to the business through a door that had been forced open.

    Approximately $1,155 of damage had been caused to the door, a window, and a security camera. Stolen from the business was approximately $50 in alcohol and $35 in change.

    Security footage from the business was retrieved and it was determined that the burglary occurred just before 11:00 PM on Sunday, June 31st. Staff from the store and the police officer recognized the burglary suspect as 44 year old Juneau resident Michael Gallo.

    At 10:37 AM, JPD officers located Gallo under the docks in the area of the business. Gallo was arrested for Burglary in the 2nd Degree, Theft in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. Gallo was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on No Bail.

    The investigation continues.
