Juneau claims the 2016 Junior Division little league district title

Juneau’s 13 and 14 year old little league All Stars defeated Sitka Wednesday night to claim the 2016 Junior Division little league district title.

Sitka Radio Center's Larry Snider reports:

"Juneau swept the first two games of the best of three series in two straight games. Juneau lead off hitter Gabe Storie was hit by a pitch with the first pitch of the ballgame and Christian Ludeman followed up with a single and both scored – and Juneau’s Junior Division All Stars never looked back. It wasn’t a good night for the home team Sitka Junior Division All Stars. After the Sitka Stars answered Juneau’s two run top of the first with a run of their own thanks to a Dom Bachoco single- to make it 2 to 1 Juneau after one inning – it was ALL Juneau the rest of the way. Sitka pitchers gave up 10 walks and hit three batters and Sitka fielders committed 9 errors as the Juneau All Stars rolled to a 16 to 2 win in a game that ended after five innings with the 10-run “mercy rule”. When the dust had settled the Juneau All Stars scored their 16 runs on 10 hits, including two doubles and a single via the Juneau All Stars clean up hitter Olin Rowson. It was just four hits for Sitka."
