Juneau Community Foundation cites growth

Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - This week is National Community Foundation week aimed at recognizing the impact of such organizations.

The Juneau Community Foundation has been around since 2000.  Foundation Vice President Rick Shattuck was asked on Action Line Mondayabout the amount of grants and scholarships the organization has awarded over the years.

"It started off small.  I think it took nine or ten years for us to do a million dollars of grants in the community," he said.  "Now through some very generous donors and also through a partnership with the City and Borough of Juneau, we're now giving grants of over $3 Million per year."

He added that the foundation has given out 123 grants through September of this year in countless areas amounting to over $11 Million.

If you would like to donate to an existing fund managed by the foundation or start a new one visit it's website at www.juneaucf.org or by calling 523-5450.
