Juneau Police conducting SWAT training

    If you notice police in full SWAT gear and equipment this weekend, please note that the Juneau Police Department will be hosting regional training for tactical officers.

    If you notice police in full SWAT gear and equipment this weekend, please note that the Juneau Police Department will be hosting regional training for tactical officers, commonly referred to as SWAT. Participants include officers from the State, local, and federal agencies.

    Lt David Campbell says, "Training exercises will take place at various schools and a private residence. During these planned exercises, officers will be dress in tactical police clothing and armed with long guns. The Juneau Police Department thanks the Juneau School District and the University of Alaska Southeast for providing access to locations for the training exercises."

    Approximately 20 officers are attending the training.
