    One of Juneau's representatives is unopposed in this year's elections while the other faces competition.

    Sam Kito is unopposed in District 33 which includes downtown Juneau, Douglas, Haines and Skagway.

    He was asked that on Action Line today;

    "It doesn't stop my need to go out and try to talk with the constituents of the district to get to all of the communities and so I am still committed to going out and trying to collect as much information and talk to as many people as I can during the campaign season. It does mean that I will have to craft my message as a singular positive as opposed to working in a debate situation but I think it will be a good campaign nonetheless. There are lots of issues to be discussed even if I'm the only one out there discussing them."

    Kito was asked if the lack of opposition will free him up to assist fellow Democrats, "I had planned before with my new role as the minority whip being out and available to help my members work on their campaigns but it doesn't mean that it will take me away from Southeast Alaska that much. It will work into my schedule."

    District 34 Republican Incumbent Cathy Munoz faces no competition in the August Primary Election,  but will have Democratic opposition in November's General Election.   She will be opposed by Justin Parish.

    Incumbent Sitka Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins will face Republican Sheila Finkenbinder in the General Election.

    Independent Incumbent Dan Ortiz of Ketchikan will seek re-election in the General Election.  His filing is pending at last report.

    Ketchikan City Council member Bob Sivertsen has filed as a Republican.

    Another filing for that seat is pending from Constitution Party candidate Kenneth Shaw of Ward Cove

    Sitka Senator Bert Stedman is unopposed in his re-election bid for the District R seat.

    Juneau Senator Dennis Egan is not up for re-election this year.
