Kake man opens fire

Kake, Alaska (KINY) Several shots were fired but no one was hurt after an apparent drive by shooting in Kake early Thursday.

Alaska State Troopers said Jacob Jonah Hallingstad of Kake, not only fired several rounds into a trailer from his vehicle, but returned to assault a man inside.

The Trooper dispatch reported Hallingstad was driving a Chevrolet pickup on the roadway next to a construction company man camp trailer at the Kake Tribal Trailer Court.  They reported several rounds were discharged from a .223 caliber rifle that entered into the trailer and nearly struck construction company crew members.  The report went on to state that the trailer was damaged and Hallingstad physically entered the trailer and assaulted one male victim.  There was no report of serious injury.

Charges expected to be filed include one count of misconduct involving weapons, third degree criminal mischief, six counts of third degree assault and one count of fourth degree assault.  Mr. Hallingstad was transported to Juneau and the Lemon Creek Correctional Center to await arraignment.
