Large amount of methamphetamine seized

    Whittier, Alaska (KINY) About eight pounds of methamphetamine were brought to Alaska on board a ferry.

    Whittier Police said Eric Hansen, 27, and Marshal Parke, 40, are charged with conspiracy and possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine.

    The FBI said 33 pounds of the drugs were sent on board the state ferry Kennicott from Bellingham, Washington to Whittier.  Agents of the state ferry noticed a suspicious package and alerted authorities.

    Whittier Police made a traffic stop and allegedly found the drugs inside along with a briefcase that contained $8,000.  The value of the drugs is approximately $225,000.
