Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - In all of her eighteen years on the Juneau School Board and Assembly, Mary Becker says she has never seen a state budget proposal like the one submitted by Governor Dunleavy for next fiscal year.
She hopes and the entire local Assembly hopes the Legislature puts forth a different plan.
If there are severe cuts, Becker hopes they are spread out over a number of years rather than all at once next year.
She says the Assembly is calling on the Legislature to approve a balanced, sustainable and predictable budget.
Becker made her comments on Action Line.
