Mackey talks about Assembly bid on Action Line

Mackey talks about Assembly bid on Action Line Juneau, Alaska (KINY) - Juneau School Board member Emil Mackey is eyeing a seat on the Assembly.

He's one of five candidates vying for the District 2 seat on the October 2 ballot.

He was asked on Action Line why he's looking to jump to the Assembly.

When he decided to file only Michelle Bonnet Hale and Wade Bryson had thrown their hats into the ring.  At that point, Mackey thought there was enough room for another choice in that race.  Garrett Schoenberger and Don Habeger have since joined the contest making it the most crowded race.

Mackey thought that with especially his educational background, having his voice on the Assembly would be beneficial.

Mackey has a doctorate degree in public policy. He has served on the school board since 2015 and has completed his first term. He works for the State of Alaska as a research analyst.
