Man drowns in Cook Inlet

Homer, Alaska (KINY) A 62 year old commercial fisherman went overboard and became unresponsive in the water.

A dispatch from Alaska State Troopers said Anthony Walsh of Kenai was fishing with Kevin Loran, 59, of Anchorage Thursday morning when he went overboard.  The US Coast Guard, Homer Police and Troopers responded.

The investigation found that Loran attempted to get Walsh back on board but was not successful.  Good Samaritans nearby came to assist and the two crews were able to pull Walsh back on board.  Efforts to revive the man failed.

The State Medical Examiner will continue the investigation.
