Man on motorcycle versus deer in Hydaburg

    JUNEAU, Alaska (KINY, Lori James) - Alaska State Troopers were notified second hand of a motor vehicle crash involving injuries between a motorcycle and deer near the village of Hydaburg Saturday night.

    VPSO Jones and EMS responded and located the injured driver identified as 24 year old Hydaburg resident Noe Winrod.

    Winrod was transported to the Hydaburg clinic and later medivaced to Ketchikan for his injuries.

    Investigation revealed Winrod was operating a 2008 Honda 250cc motorcycle southbound on the Hydaburg Highway when he collided with a deer.

    Winrod sustained a compound fracture to the foot, multiple road rashes and was not wearing a helmet.  

    Neither speed nor alcohol were factors in the crash.
